Background information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a IT Systems Engineer to be based in our Arlington, VA office.
Overview:
IDT is seeking a IT Systems Engineer that will help design, deploy and maintain Linux and Windows based computing systems intended to support virtualized testing of Naval tactical systems such as Aegis, SSDS, E-2D Hawkeye, etc., possibly in a high-fidelity System-of-Systems environment. Responsibilities will focus on the development of solutions that further IDT’s goals of leveraging virtualization to deliver capability to the warfighter faster. In this position, you would be focused on supporting the Advanced Capabilities team as infrastructure support for their testing and development efforts both at the IDT Arlington location as well as at remote testing/integration locations as they occur.

Responsibilities Include:
- Interact with technical team members from multiple organizations in a team environment
- Perform requirements analysis, translating business need into IT resource specifications
- Developing design documentation
- Provision virtual servers and virtual desktops per customer requirements
- Provide direct technical support for the planning, design, and implementation of releases, upgrades, changes to server storage and virtualization systems along with the productivity tools that support the testing and production of those systems
- Contribute to improvement of administrative and operational processes
- Perform administration and lifecycle management of hypervisors, automation and orchestration software, enterprise virtual Systems and networks utilizing multiple network management tools and applications
- Complete capacity planning, workload modeling, prediction, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning to ensure stable performance of the virtualization environments
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant field of Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant technology field required
Required skills:
- Experience with physical server install/administration
- Some level of experience managing/configuring either Server-based or Workstation-based Operating Systems (Windows Workstation, Windows Server, RHEL, Ubuntu)
- Virtualization Infrastructure Experience with VMware or similar virtualization tools
- Networking experience – TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls
- Experience with NFS, iSCSI, FTP, SSH, SCP, LDAP, BASH, IP, TCP, UDP, NTP, DNS, DHCP
- Demonstrated ability to shift from one project to another in an agile work environment
- Ability to communicate technical approaches and details within small project teams, including team interaction and presentations
- Ability to capture technical approaches, designs, block diagrams, algorithms, and implementations in written and graphical form
- Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
Preferred skills:
- Experience troubleshooting issues of both a software and/or a hardware nature
- Enterprise system engineering/administrator expertise with at least one operating system
- Experience configuring/managing RHEL Systems
- Networking protocol experience (802.11, TCP, UDP, ICMP) and troubleshooting network related issues at a physical and operating system level.
- Experience with well-thoughtout physical server configuration and cabling
- Experience with Bash and/or C shell scripting
- Experience with Dell or Supermicro Servers is a plus
- Experience with Cisco Switching is a plus
- Experience with Ansible, Powershell, Chef, Salt, Python, or Puppet experience is a plus
- VMWare, Red Hat, and/or Cisco certifications highly encouraged
- Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification highly encouraged
- Familiarity with DISA STIG or other Risk Management Framework is highly encouraged
