Job Summary:
The IT Informatics Analyst is an advocate, change agent, and analyst with knowledge of clinical information systems, physician, and nursing workflow in a hospital setting. The role facilitates the implementation and acceptance of technology innovations into healthcare service delivery, management and planning. IT Informatics Analyst provides technical and application expertise to support end user adoption and continues to define training plans and support practices while identifying process improvement opportunities for technology solutions. He or she is a change leader and serves as a positive, progressive, professional role model and develops trusted, customer service focused relationships with medical, nursing and operational staff. He or she will provide essential subject matter expertise, application architecture design, and systems analysis as necessary.
The IT Informatics Analyst is able to work independently without close supervision and exercises independent judgment and discretion.
Experience/ Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-7years professional experience within a healthcare organization
- Experience supporting physician advisory councils, medical staff committees, and Informatics programs to coordinate IT solutions for physicians, nursing, other clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Experience organizing and providing physician, nursing, and ancillary training, good organization skills with ability to prioritize multiple activities in a rapidly changing environment
- Strong customer service focus to manage customer relations and expectations and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability and willingness to work odd hours as necessary to provide go live support or on call support according to call schedule
- Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office, MS Visio with the ability to use these and other tools to provide meaningful analytics
- Experience using or supporting major healthcare information system
- Experience supporting “go live” functions when EHR functionality is rolled out to medical or clinical staff
- Preferred: Knowledge and prior experience in achieving Meaningful Use according to the CMS EHR incentive program (Promoting Interoperability) requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required or at least three (3) or more years healthcare informatics related work experience.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in health-care related field.
Licensures/ Certifications:
- Must successfully complete and maintain LA County Fire Card certification at the time of hire or within the first 30 days of employment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the physician, nursing, technology adoption program and mentor resources from other departments such as IT and Education
- Oversee and manage projects delivering new technology solutions to healthcare providers
- Understand and promote compliance with EHR and related systems as defined by regulation
- Provide technical and application expertise to design, analyze, and optimize clinical information systems for providers and nurses ensuring system design achieves Valley Presbyterian objectives of standardization, integration, and efficiency while supporting compliance with regulatory requirements
- Educate IT technical staff about operational workflow and hospital healthcare practices
- Communicate and coordinate provider education with Medical Staff Office and other related departments
- Develop and maintain standard documentation of system design and workflow processes ensuring documentation is complete and current
- Cultivate a culture of continuous performance improvement and metrics driven outcomes
- Provide training to physicians, nurses, other clinical, and non-clinical staff in the use of the EHR and other applications.
- Identify and document organizational gaps and operational challenges when introducing new software while developing and providing solutions
- Support physicians in direct response to calls for assistance or through rounding of departments to ensure best practice use of the EHR
- Work closely with vendor partners supplying certified EHR technology to Valley Presbyterian Hospital in accordance with organizational needs as well as internal clinical system analysts
- Work with IT applications and engineering teams to coordinate training and support and assist in the prioritization of work tasks.
- Gather and represent system requirements for clinical analysts to optimize the system and for new projects
- Support project management by providing accurate information to appropriately prioritize tasks across IT teams
- Act as a change agent to develop new processes, enhance existing workflow, and train clinical and medical staff in new functionality or processes.
- Assist in the development of policies to support information management regulatory requirements
- Participate in departmental on-call support along with other IT resources
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $51.01 - $72.07 per hour
