About the Job
The IT Development Manager is responsible for leading and managing GME’s team of developers, overseeing the software development lifecycle, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and functional software solutions that deliver incremental value for both internal and external customers. The IT Development Manager will be involved in collaborating with our customers and project management team to scope projects and communicate expectations. This role, reporting to the SVP of IT, requires a combination of technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements for success as part of our team:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software developers, by fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the development team and ensure adherence to best practices, security, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, QA, business stakeholders, and external resources to define project requirements and objectives.
- Assist customers with the rollout and training for digital tools and development projects
- Allocate resources effectively, monitor team performance, and address any challenges or obstacles that may impact project delivery.
- Evaluate business software needs of buy vs build.
- Ensure the development of high-quality software by implementing effective testing strategies, code reviews, and performance optimization.
- Identify areas for process improvement within the development team and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
Ideal candidate qualities include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
- 2+ years experience utilizing agile methodologies
- Strong technical background with expertise in C#, MVC, .NET, .NET Core, Kubernetes, Javascript, React, and Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of infrastructure (Virtual Machines, Operating Systems, Networking, etc)
- Experience with effectively presenting to various group sizes, as well as executive relationship building, communication, and negotiation.
