Position Summary:
The Infusion/Oncology Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and scheduling patient appointments. Provide excellent customer service to advocate within all aspects of patient care working in a team setting that provides communication support to patients, physicians, and clinic staff.
Major Position Responsibilities:

- Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
- Assist patients with coordinating and scheduling all appointments related to care plan, working within insurance authorization timeframes before expiring.
- Includes all oncology and hematology medications, including but not limited to, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, non-chemotherapy infusions, injections, research trial medications and supportive care treatments such as blood transfusions, hydration, anti-emetics, etc.
- Ensures pre-authorization(s) and referrals are obtained and current insurance is active and up to date in electronic system(s) prior to scheduling.
- Coordinates infusion scheduling with provider visits & outside facilities.
- Responsible for infusion cancellations and rescheduling.
- Request patient records from referring physician offices.
- Enter infusion orders and send medication orders to in-house pharmacy.
- Responds to providers, patients and insurance inquiries and concerns regarding the status of the patient referral, care coordination or follow up status.
- Performs all other additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience scheduling complex patient appointments in a clinic or healthcare setting, required. Oncology practice experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance authorization and verification process, preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, required.
- Excellent customer service skills, required.
- Proficient with Microsoft, computer systems and software used in healthcare, required.
- Effective communication skills, required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, required.
- Bilingual, preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED, required.
