About the Job
STARR Restaurants is currently seeking a Human Resources Manager in the Philadelphia area to join the team! The Human Resources Manager will provide comprehensive HR support for the areas of employee relations, benefit programs, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Employee Relations & Communications:
- Evaluates and facilitates effective interpersonal communication and resolution of employee relations issues to promote and improve employee morale, create positive employer-employee relationships, and enhance over-all restaurant performance.
- Establish trust with employees through open communication and transparency.
- Offer advice and counsel to employees, supervisors, and managers on employee relations, performance management, and HR laws.
Policy & Procedure Management:
- Review Human Resource policies, programs, and practices to keep the Company abreast of current industry practices and informed of new developments.
- Create and maintain policies, procedures, and programs for employee relations.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure HR policies are aligned with company goals and legal requirements.
Audit & Reporting:
- Conduct HR audits and provide guidance on HR compliance.
- Stay current on employment laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal level.
- Oversee employee performance management, working closely with department heads on evaluations, feedback, and disciplinary actions.
- Compile information required for annual EEO-1 report filing
Training & Development:
- Execute training on employee relations, risk management, and onboarding
- Provide guidance on employee development and training programs.
Benefit Administration:
- Administer employee benefit plans by assisting new hires, newly eligible, and current participants with questions regarding their benefits or the enrollment process
- Ensure benefits compliance with laws and regulations, including annual 5500 filing
- Manage annual open enrollment processes, including the ongoing process from a plan design / plan management perspective, communication to employees of new or revised benefit plans or provisions and responding to complex questions
Workers’ Compensation & Unemployment:
- Oversee workers' compensation claims including the assessment and analysis of risk, development of strategies, action plans and associated recommendations to move claims to settlement or closure
- Provide ongoing training and resource material to those involved with workers' compensation claims reporting and unemployment procedures
Qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or equivalent education and experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of HR experience with increasing responsibility
- Experience in hospitality, retail, or a similar industry preferred
- Previous experience in supporting multi-state field employees in the areas of employee relations, policy and procedure management
- Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines and stakeholders in demanding environment
- High attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills
