Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Human Resources Specialist to manage and support various HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee benefits, leave management, workforce development, and compliance. This role is critical in maintaining accurate employee data, ensuring effective administration of HR policies, and conducting analyses to support organizational needs. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, adept at problem-solving, and committed to fostering an efficient and compliant workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Perform analytical tasks related to talent acquisition, classification and compensation, benefits administration, HR information systems, absence and leave management, substance abuse programs, and workforce development.
- Conduct recruitment activities, prepare job postings and advertisements, screen applications, and administer job selection procedures including application review, testing, assessment, and interviews.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of position and employee data, including creating and abolishing positions and processing position reallocations.
- Assist with the administration and coordination of employee leave programs, including workers' compensation and disability leaves; maintain, analyze, and audit employee leave data; respond to employee inquiries related to leave programs.
- Coordinate random alcohol and drug testing activities, maintain related documentation, and track and coordinate data maintenance related to testing activities.
- Conduct organizational and classification studies using various evaluation methods; recommend adjustments; prepare job analysis documents and job descriptions.
- Conduct and participate in compensation and benefits surveys; analyze and match survey data; prepare reports and make recommendations.
- Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs; respond to inquiries from employees and external parties.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation; maintain accurate records and files.
- Conduct individual or group meetings, including exit interviews and new employee orientations.
- Respond to employee requests and public inquiries courteously; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints efficiently and timely.
- Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to staff.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Equivalent experience or relevant certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in human resources, including talent acquisition, benefits administration, or employee relations.
- Experience in employee leave management, workforce data analysis, or HR compliance is highly desirable.
- Prior experience conducting job analysis, compensation surveys, or classification studies is a plus.
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of HR principles, practices, and regulations.
- Familiarity with employee benefits programs, leave policies (e.g., FMLA, workers' compensation), and workforce development practices.
- Knowledge of HRIS platforms and data management tools.
- Awareness of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to HR compliance.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills for conducting HR data reviews, audits, and preparing reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR-related software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain HR policies and procedures clearly.
- Problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when managing data, reports, and documentation.
