Housekeeper
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly Employee
DEPARTMENT: Administration
PURPOSE:
To provide excellent customer service while maintaining a level of cleanliness that exceeds health code standards. To clean and maintainthe retail sales floor, offices, restrooms, and employee spaces, keeping facilities in good running order.
ALL CO-OP STAFF WILL:
- Use all available tools and resources in order to provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service to all customers, coworkers, and vendors
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with everyone you encounter while at work
- Adhere to all store and department policies and procedures
- Demonstrate regular, predictable good attendance
- Attend huddles and meetings as scheduled
- Commit to contributing to a positive, team-building work environment
ALL HOUSEKEEPERS WILL:
- Sweep retail floor and all back stock and work areas multiple times daily
- Remove trash and recycling that is not the responsibility of a specific department
- Clean each restroom several times throughout shift
- Keep mop and equipment areas clean and free of debris
- Wipe down tables and chairs of indoor and outdoor seating areas several times during shift
- Dust and keep orderly magazine racks and food shelf bins in entry vestibules
- Clean glass display doors on sales floor and polish chrome on cases
- Scrub and keep clean hard-to-get-at areas
- Clean break room daily
- Assist Deli kitchen with dishwashing duties as needed
- Pick-up and properly dispose of trash and debris from co-op property in parking lot, gardens, sidewalks, etc.
- Snow and ice removal of sidewalks and receiving areas as necessary
- Landscaping maintenance, including weeding and watering, as necessary
- Strictly follow all guidelines – including food safety and organic standards – for handling cleaning products
- Work safely using safe body mechanics and good judgment
- Complete tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager
- Follow all Eastside Food Co-op and facilitiespolicies and procedures

- Self-motivation; comfortable taking initiative and prioritizing tasks
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Weekend and evening availability
- The ability to work independently with limited and no supervision
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and walking for extended periods of time per shift
- Movement of merchandise, equipment, and ladders throughout the store, not to exceed 50 pounds; pushing and pulling carts weighing up to 200 pounds
- Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation
