Starting Work Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday Day Shift (1 hour lunch)
Highlights of Main Job Duties:
- Ensures accurate and timely testing of specimens.
- Performs and interpret a wide range of hematology tests, including complete blood counts (CBC), coagulation tests, blood smears, urinalysis, and body fluids.
- Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots sophisticated laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Ensure accuracy and precision in test results through meticulous quality control procedures.
- Evaluates test results and recognize abnormal values in specific population groups.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to discuss test results and their implications for patient care.
- Provide technical support and expertise to other laboratory staff and trainees.
- Develops and modifies procedures as needed.
- Establishes and monitors programs, to ensure the accuracy of tests.
- Participates in all aspects of proficiency testing.
- Understands and adheres to HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to assure patient confidentiality.
- Performs administrative duties including excellent customer service to all patients, clients and employees.

Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field. (Associates Acceptable w/MLT Certification)
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
- Will accept new graduates who desire starting career with focus on hematology.
- Proficiency in hematology laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Hematology Department
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP).

Lab staff must wear appropriate protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, and face shield) at all times while in the lab and are regularly exposed to infection by handling potentially infectious samples. Physical requirements, in addition to willingness & ability to wear protective gear while working, are:
- Ability to sit and or stand for extended period of times
- Lift up to 25 pounds
- Mobility to climb stairs on a regular basis
- Must be able to distinguish color and pass vision acuity test in compliance with CAP regulations
OSHA Category: This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
