Description
The Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, and Hematology Medical Oncology (HMO) of Winship Cancer Institute (WCI) are aggressively expanding our clinical and academic footprint in the metro-Atlanta area as part of our strategic plan. We are looking for engaged and enthusiastic faculty to partner with us and contribute to the field of psychiatric oncology through the tripartite missions of education, research, and quality clinical care. The Psychiatry department is part of the Brain Health Center, a collaborative five-specialty unit that offers an enriched research environment in both laboratory and clinical settings in addition to academic training opportunities in graduate and undergraduate education. Faculty members have opportunities for clinical, research, and academic collaboration with other Brain Health faculty including Neurology, Neurosurgery, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Sleep, in addition to the other departments at Emory. The Hematology Medical Oncology (HMO) department is part of the Winship Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center providing all aspects of cancer care with partners in surgery, radiation oncology, palliative care, physical medicine and rehab, cardiology and dermatology. HMO excels in all aspects of academic medical care including research, teaching and clinical services and multiple sites throughout the metro Atlanta area. We are seeking Adult Psychiatrists who are interested in becoming a leader in the growing, dynamic field of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry. The successful candidate will join our Consultation Liaison (CL) faculty and primarily be based at Winship Emory Midtown (WEM), a new free standing, 19 story hospital providing comprehensive, complex care to patients and families. The primary duties of the position will primarily be outpatient care for people dealing with a cancer diagnosis and being care for at WEM. Given the scope of Emory’s reach in Atlanta, the position will also include clinical care for patients at the WCI Saint Joseph Hospital location. As a member of the CL Division the candidate will participate in developing new, innovative models of consultation that involve proactive collaboration with cancer care services, both on site and via telepsychiatry as a platform providing clinical care. Collaboration with physicians, advance practice providers, nurses and other clinical colleagues will be a key component of the position. As Emory School of Medicine faculty you are part of Emory Healthcare, the largest health care system in the state of Georgia, working in the state of Georgia’s premier hospitals of Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital-Midtown, Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown, Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital, Emory John’s Creek Hospital, Emory Decatur Hospital, Emory Hillandale Hospital and Emory Long-Term Acute Care Hospital. Academic Rank at Emory University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements. Education: Minimum qualifications include MD degree and completion of a four-year residency program (psychiatry). Must hold or be eligible for State of Georgia medical license. Must be board certified or board eligible. Additional information: These hospitals are in the city of Atlanta, the state capitol and one of the nation’s most diverse cities. Highlights of Atlanta include the renowned High Museum of Art, the Beltline, a fabulous food scene, the annual Peachtree Road Race, vibrant theater and music performances as well as many revered sports teams (Falcons, Braves, Hawks and Atlanta United FC). We offer a generous base compensation with incentive pay for clinical activity, unparalleled health benefits, retirement plans, malpractice, and four weeks paid vacation plus a week of time to attend and participate in academic conferences and workshops. We offer our candidates relocation assistance, sign-on bonuses, and protected academic and administrative time. Moonlighting opportunities are also available for additional compensation.
