Role:
An Operations Manager plays a very integral role within the day-to-day operations of Gator Transport Group. The Operations Manager is the pulse between customers and drivers. Therefore, must be very attentive to detail and instructions daily. This position requires much forward thinking and planning. This allows Gator Transport Group to provide the best customer service and become more efficient internally, and externally for our customers.
Responsibilities: The following responsibilities are undertaken by the Operations Manager daily:
- Enter all calls into towbook and assign a driver
- Create new customer accounts in towbook
- Ensure all loads are at permitted/legal weights and dimensions for equipment
- Communicate with customers about delays, issues, and/or hold ups
- Negotiate rates with customers via email or text correspondence
- Communicate with drivers and pass perinate information pertaining to their dispatch ex. equipment numbers, time, address, and equipment to bring
- Answer incoming calls/texts on the Dispatch line expeditiously during and after business hours
- Call current customers when trucks do not have work for that day.
- Pass all vacation/ time off request to GM.
- Responsible for making sure all drivers are following HOS law and address any issues
- Responsible for making sure all drivers are on-site on time and leave the yard on time in the mornings.
- Arrange any escorts, permits, and subhaulers need each day
- Visit current and prospective customers weekly and build lasting relations for Gator Transport Group's book of business
- Responsible for sending Customer Packets to all prospective customers and track progress
- Responsible for documenting/investigating all disciplinary actions for drivers and dispatchers
- Investigate accidents and determine route causes
- Review all triggered safety events and issue monthly safety bonus for Transport drivers
- Plan preventative maintenance and needed repairs
- Interview drivers to see if they are the right fit based on their experience and work history
- Hold monthly drivers' meetings to discuss issues and upcoming changes
- Responsible for IFTA/IRP renewals and stickers
- Order and maintain blanket permits for all required trucks
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's or associate degree in transportation or logistics would be advantageous.
- 3-5 years of experience as a truck dispatcher in the construction industry
- Extensive experience in customer services, as well as generating freight bills and invoices
- Experience with Transportation Management Software, such as Samsara and Towbook
- Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Exceptional ability to schedule drivers, plan routes, and dispatch drivers to customer locations
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Knowledge of Texas DOT laws, weights, and restrictions
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Frequently will reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly will lift 10 pounds; Frequently will lift up to 25 pounds; Occasionally will lift up to 50 pounds.
- Monday-Friday with the occasional coordination of trucks on Saturday (work from home).
- Start time 6am-4pm
