BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS
Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually. Primary Purpose: - As an Operator, you will be essential to the daily operational needs of the terminal to ensure that the company and customer's needs are met.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Operate D-9 and/or D-10 Dozers equipped with concave blade attached across front to gouge out, level, and distribute petroleum from storage to re-claimer, from processing units/pit to storage in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate Bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade.
- Operate Front End Loader, Bobcat, Manlift,Track Hoe, and/or Forklift.
- Operate Overhead Gantry Crane and/or Bridge Crane.
- Maintain radio communication with crew to ensure proper equipment operation.
- Understand inspection procedures and complete inspection report on equipment.
- Maintain all mobile and stationary equipment by performing preventive maintenance, i.e.: lubricating, cleaning, greasing, adding gear lubricants and other minor maintenance and repairs; Document all activity performed.
- General clean up of product through the use of a Bobcat, shovels, or water hose; Clean and perform basic housekeeping duties.
- Train and perform rail operation duties based on location including, but not limited to: switching, loading, and unloading railcars.
- Train and perform other operational duties based on location including, but not limited to: shiploader duties, conveyor operations, and cutting and drilling duties.
- Assist coworkers and maintenance crew on various jobs.
- Operates heavy equipment to gouge out, level, and distribute petroleum coke from inbound conveyors, storage and to outbound conveyors in
Minimum Requirements:
Education : - High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
Experience/specific knowledge: - A minimum of one to three month's experience and/or training operating heavy equipment.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: - Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers and must be willing to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.
- Must pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations.
- Must obtain and/or meet all requirements as required by customers to work in their facilities such as DISA and/or ISTC background checks; Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) may be required.
Competencies, Skilss, and Abilities: - In order to perform essential duties, regular work attendance is required.
- Must be willing to work overtime with little or no notice during the week, weekends, holidays, etc as dictated by operations.
- Must be willing to be on-call as dictated by operations.
- Understand and comply with customer and Kinder Morgan's rules and policies.
- Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
Physical Demands: - Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, reach, etc. for extended periods of time.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Respirator fit testing may be required.
Working Conditions: - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- This position consist of outside work, adverse weather conditions may apply.
Preferred education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, SKills, and Abilities: Above the minimum requirements: not required but advantageous in this position - Heavy equipment certification(s).
- Previous experience operating: D-9/D-10 Dozer, Crane, and/or Front-end Loader.
- Previous experience in the following areas: shiploading, loading and unloading railcars, conveyor operations, and/or cutting and drilling duties.
