Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation: Develop accurate, detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects, including underground utilities and storm drains.
Scope Review: Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the full scope of work.
Risk Analysis: Perform thorough risk and opportunity assessments for each estimate.
Client Interface: Collaborate with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to clarify details and make adjustments as needed.
Vendor Relations: Build relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
Team Collaboration: Work with project managers to align estimates with schedules and logistics.
Market Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends to maintain competitive estimating practices.
Reporting: Prepare and present estimate reports and bids to management and clients.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
Expertise in underground utilities, piping, sewer, and storm drains.
Proficient in estimating software and advanced Excel skills.
Strong knowledge of construction procedures and material standards.
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and negotiation skills.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Certification as a Professional Estimator is a plus.
Experience with public works or government project bidding.
Familiarity with contract and specification reading.

Work Schedule and Environment

Full-time position (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
Work includes office-based tasks with regular site visits for field meetings and vendor discussions.
Expect 40-50 hours per week, including driving to project sites as needed.
