Position Summary:
The HVAC employee will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of air conditioning, heating, and ventilating systems in the district.
Successful candidates, at minimum, will have:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D., related job experience, Associate’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of seven years experience in the assigned trade
- Able to read plans and schematics associated with the trade
- Working knowledge of HVAC, maintenance, and operations
- Working knowledge of Daikin HVAC systems, maintenance, and repair
- Good communication skills; comprehends and efficiently follows instructions/directions
- Must be able to work with power equipment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installs and maintain air conditioning, heating, ventilating equipment and kitchen equipment
- Starts and operate complex compressor units and heating systems
- Checks and maintain generators; overhaul motors; clean and adjust voltage regulators and temperature recorders; calibrate pressure gauges, meters, and similar devices; check all indicating instruments periodically to know the functioning of each unit
- Consults with outside contractors and employees of other state agencies regarding design, alteration and repair, and purchase recommendations of mechanical equipment
- Establishes operating standards and procedures for equipment within the limitations of assigned temperature requirements
- Performs limited welding tasks as needed
- Assumes responsibility for all equipment, vehicles, tools and other equipment Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Operations
PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Valid Missouri Driver’s License
- Ability to safely operate district vehicles
- Ability to function effectively in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to communicate and work with the public and to maintain an effective working relationship with auxiliary personnel, teachers, patrons, and all school administrators
- Good knowledge of tools, materials, and methods to safely perform the work required
- Ability to compute simple mathematics
- Working knowledge of maintenance and custodial operations
- Ability to attain and maintain HVAC credentials

- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 50 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups
- Ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, running, and reaching for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment and move about the work area
- This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work-related hazards
- Ability to work in tight areas including pipe chases and tunnels
- Ability to work in high places, using ladders and scaffolding
- Ability to work in potentially dangerous situations, including gas equipment and electrical equipment
