POSITION SUMMARY:
As a team member of the Human Resources (“HR”) Contact Center (also known as HR Operations) at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”), the HR Shared Services Specialist l role is responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the associate lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding, while also being actively involved in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and focus on the associate experience. This position is a highly responsive and customer-oriented HR professional who is responsible for providing accurate information and support to associates and leaders. The role also works closely with other HR teams to ensure that HR processes are efficient and effective. This role plays a critical role in supporting the team in a range of tasks that requires efficient and timely communication, correspondence, data entry, compliance tracking, auditing and reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide an overview of regional trends to the Regional Human Resources Business Partners and support the HR Business Advisor as needed.
- Perform basic reviews/audits of compiled data/information within UKG to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards in place, including new hire and rehire documentation, payroll changes, disciplinary actions, termination paperwork, and paid time off, as well as monitor for WOTC with new hires.
- Handle routine labor relations and human resources inquiries related to policies and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, labor relations and Human Resources.
- Work with state unemployment agencies, handle all initial unemployment claims, and attend hearings as needed via phone.
- Support coaching and training of associates and leaders within UKG as well as building job aids.
- Serve as a partner for all departments’ HR applications needs including, but not limited to HR, Store Operations, and Legal, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external policies driven by state and federal guidelines as well as ensuring Company and state documents, policies and procedures are up to date in compliance.
- Process stores’ annual reviews, ensuring completion and accuracy.
- Ensure our Milestone and Years of Service Recognition Awards are delivered to our associates accurately and timely.
- Support multiple modules within UKG including, but not limited to, PRO, Workforce Management, Document Manager and People Assist.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required in lieu of experience.
- 1 or more years of professional HR experience is preferred.
- SHRM - CP certification is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritize work accordingly in a timely manner. Ability to deal with interruptions while completing work within deadlines.
- Strong understanding of unemployment processing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
potential. - Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.

The salary range for this position is between $22.00 - $26.00 / hour. Salary commensurate with experience.
