Job Description: | The UF Health Cancer Center is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span 11 of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. As a Human Resources Generalist at the UFHCC, you will serve as a critical part of our HR People Operations team, acting as a business partner and liaison for UFHCC staff and stakeholders. In your new role you will be responsible for the following: HR Generalist I: - Working with UFHCC staff, managers, and leadership to facilitate HR actions and advise on matters within the scope of HR practice.
- Assisting the POPS Lead with the development of the POPS unit, helping to troubleshoot issues.
- Assisting the POPS Lead in evaluating pay practices, policies, workflows, etc. and aiding in the implementation and development of creative, innovative solutions to resolve issues arising from the course of normal business operations.
HR Generalist II: - Partnering with UFHCC managers and leaders to review issues, advise on best practices, and consult on the management of their teams.
- Working with UFHCC staff, managers, and leadership to facilitate HR actions and advise on matters within the scope of HR practice.
- Assisting the POPS Lead with the development of the POPS unit, helping to troubleshoot issues and mentoring staff.
- Working with the POPS Lead to evaluate pay practices, policies, workflows, etc. and propose creative, innovative solutions to resolve issues arising from the course of normal business operations, coordinating implementation as directed.
The HR Generalist I is an early career position, ideal for candidates with an interest in establishing a career in Human Resources. Ideal candidates for the HR Generalist II will have established experience in HR with an interest in furthering their career in HR and a developed understanding of HR best practices. Expected Salary: | HR Generalist I: $22.00 – $27.00, hourly. HR Generalist II: $57,500 - $70,000, annually Classification and salary level will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and experience. This is a TEAMS position, and is eligible for a suite of excellent benefits, retirement options, and paid leave. Training and mentorship within the HR team will be provided in addition to other professional development opportunities through the University of Florida and other organizations. |

Minimum Requirements: | HR Generalist I: A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience. HR Generalist II: A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two year of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) required at the earliest of 12 months from hire or eligibility. |

Preferred Qualifications: | Knowledge/Experience: HR Generalist I: - Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related field.
- Some HR experience, particularly in higher education, healthcare, research, or similar is highly preferred.
- Understanding and demonstrated ability to serve as a resource on general HR policy, labor laws, and best practices.
HR Generalist II: - Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related field.
- Two to four years’ progressively responsible experience in HR supporting complex business units and driving organizational growth. Direct experience supporting academic research in a complex matrix unit is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a resource and SME on HR policies and best practices, strategic planning, and other related areas of practice.
- Active affiliation with appropriate professional networks and organizations with ongoing community involvement preferred.
Qualities: - Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to be extremely effective independently, interact professionally, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills.
- Exceptional customer service with a professional, trustworthy, approachable demeanor and strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability and desire to work with a broad range of people and appreciate a culturally diverse organization.
