POSITION SUMMARY: As the HR Business Partner - In San Jose, CA you will support the Human Resources department in various ways, including processing company payroll. You will also be asked to assist with managing recruitment, hiring, retention, and termination processes, reviewing incident reports, communicating information to field employees, conducting research, gathering and analyzing data, preparing reports, and assisting with legal compliance matters. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Internal and External Service HR:
Collect and compile HR metrics and data from various sources, including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors’ practices, and other sources.
Analyze data and statistics for trends and patterns, focusing on recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Prepare reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership.
Identify and recommend reasonable short—and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics. Based on metrics and analysis, make recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture, including suggestions to attract and hire qualified candidates, motivate and retain employees, address staffing issues, and maintain legal compliance.
Facilitate implementation of new training, development, recruiting, and other related initiatives.
Assist with recruitment, hiring, retention and termination processes, including drafting job descriptions, reviewing candidates and conducting interviews.
May conduct or assist with conducting classification audits to ensure that jobs are properly classified as exempt or nonexempt.
Assist with preparation of various annual reports required for governmental authorities.
Researching, recommending and implementing best practices.
May assist HR leadership with staffing, recruiting, and departmental budgets.
May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.
Meets with employees in the field to identify and review employee needs and issues.
Prepare and conduct training for field employees.
Assist with various legal and compliance matters.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Internal and External Service Payroll:
Will enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system; information may include employee’s hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
Will ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
Will reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
Will issue, or reissue, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
Will record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits.
Must have strong working knowledge of (iSloved,).
Restaurant software awareness (including without limitation, Dine, eRestaurant, xformity and Altametrics).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements:
90% of total time will be field travel in Northern CA.
10 of time supporting in Southern CA as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Bachelor or higher degree in Human Resources, Business Administration,or related field required.
Two years of experience in payroll processing.
Commitment to payroll best practices and regulations, including knowledge of payroll law/regulations.
Exercises sound judgment and exhibit strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Regular travel within CA (including overnight) 90% of the time.
