GPTech is looking for a Graphics Designer to provide contract support to the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID’S) Power Africa program. Power Africa is a U.S. Government-led partnership with a goal to add more than 30,000 megawatts of new electricity generation capacity and connect 60 million new homes and businesses in sub-Saharan Africa to power by 2030.
GPTech assists the Power Africa Coordinator’s Office (PACO) with a wide range of communication needs. The Graphics Designer will be hands on and provide graphics design support on an as-needed basis for PACO. Materials will largely focus on the energy infrastructure sector as well as beneficiaries of Power Africa’s energy-related programs.
The Graphics Designer will be based in the Washington, D.C. area to support PACO on immediate needs in the D.C. time zone. The desired candidate will be able to take on work developed by the head designer based in South Africa and adjust the graphics to support Power Africa staff based in D.C.

Responsibilities:
- In coordination with GPTech and Power Africa, provide graphics design support on existing materials and/or develop new materials to highlight Power Africa’s work.
- Develop and edit design solutions and templates for a wide variety of projects, including internal and external information products and multimedia materials, including, but not limited to, fact sheets, reports, brochures, maps, conference and event materials, PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, exhibit/signage materials, online products, and Power Africa-related content for its website.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college
- Minimum 8 years of experience in graphics design, photography, videography, communications, or related area of expertise
- Professional graphics design experience with a strong graphics design portfolio, incorporating infographics and data visualization; experience in creating interactive charts highly and infographics extremely desirable
- Experience in full Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, InDesign, Premier Pro, After Effects, and Acrobat)
- Experience with developing layouts for multi-page reports
- Experience in video pre- and post-production
- Experience in photography and layout
- Knowledge of website design and layout/format
- Familiarity with USAID’s graphics standards highly desirable
- Superior judgment and ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines, sometimes with limited supervision
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities
