Summary
As part of the Global IT leadership, CellCarta is looking for a Global Solution Architecture Lead. You will focus on a variety of new and changing technology designs for CellCarta’s businesses. This role requires hands-on experience in networking, infrastructure & server setup (both on-premise and cloud), as well as in managing technical people. With the implementation of a hybrid cloud strategy, you will have the ability to work with the newest tools and environments and advise on our implementation and future needs.
Responsibilities
More specifically, you will participate in the following:
- Lead a technical architect team (currently 2 people);
- Partner with CellCarta’s businesses and global functions to understand their needs and provide appropriate technology solutions;
- Advise on best-fit (IT) solutions to support Business and IT strategy;
- Design infrastructure and networking at a global scale;
- Design secure implementations and integrations of end-user devices and lab equipment;
- Design network solutions together with cloud providers and internet providers, keeping in mind security and segregation;
- Work closely with operations and support staff, as well as external vendors, to implement cloud, data center, and network solutions;
- Support labs in implementing new devices or configuring them in the networks/on platforms;
- Support both local (small) virtual server environments as well as AWS/Azure environments – including server, storage, and network setup;
- Implement configurations / modifications in technical applications to ensure compliance with solution designs and company standards;
- Serve as a “final tier” technical subject matter expert (SME) for support issues which are not able to be resolved by operations staff;
- Support Annual Operating Plan development and project budget estimation;
- Influence annual IT roadmap (application & business);
- Develop and maintain a technical standards catalog for the enterprise.
Education
- An advanced degree (Bachelor’s level or higher in science or IT).
Main Requirements
- >5 years of experience in similar roles with a proven track record of delivering (technical & strategical) designs in a global environment;
- An IT consultancy background or experience with a variety of IT environments and applications;
- Proven experience with multiple technologies including on-premises and cloud environments (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP);
- Proven experience in developing complex solution architectures, including application and data flow optimization;
- Proven experience in working with internal teams and external vendors in different sourcing models;
- Proven experience in designing robust solutions to meet requirements for high availability, disaster recovery, and information security;
- Understanding of contemporary project management models such as agile and waterfall;
- Experience in setting up end-user devices and hybrid server environments including storage and network configurations;
- Experience in configuring Windows servers (required); Linux administration skills (preferred);
- An understanding of typical laboratory workflows in the biopharmaceutical, environmental, or similar industries (preferred);
- Knowledge of or experience with GxP processes (preferred);
- A wide degree of creativity and initiative. This includes helping the team operationally where needed by demonstrating engagement, energy, and enthusiasm;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Fluency in English both written and spoken. Additional languages such as Dutch and French preferred;
- Strong organizational skills, a results oriented mindset, proven teamwork characteristics, and ability to work independently.
Working Conditions
- Preferred locations are Montreal, Canada; Antwerp, Belgium; or Naperville, United States. Onsite presence is expected.
