ABOUT THE POSITION

Georgia Real Estate & Institutions Market Leader | Atlanta, GA

VHB is seeking a driven Georgia Real Estate & Institutions Market Leader for our growing practice to join our leadership team. The successful candidate must have extensive operational and business development experience, and be knowledgeable in the land development, healthcare and education (Higher-ed and K-12) capital project design/permitting and/or education campus planning and design, with existing relationships and contacts at the decision-making level within the state. In addition to aiding in the development of a market growth strategy, the Market Leader will be responsible for managing key client relationships, coordinating project teams, and overseeing land development, healthcare, education, and other projects in the region. The position requires a proven ability to develop business, establish meaningful client relationships, manage projects, and coach and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to the Managing Director relative to prioritizing different market opportunities and our ability to maximize success.
• Conducts market research and leads the office business plan development for the real estate and institutions market and tracks and oversees the achievement of strategic business and financial goals in these markets.
• Sets the strategic direction and develops Real Estate Market and State/Local Market key initiatives including growing client base to further diversify our business.
• Drives the identification, pursuit and development of firm relationships with developers, investors, land use attorneys, architects and economic development agencies throughout the Region.
• Demonstrates business acumen through a thorough understanding and analysis of financial reports and other business tracking systems
• Works closely with our Land Development practice in Georgia to assist with operational/financial items, quality initiatives, service offerings, recruiting and staff development/mentoring.
• Engages in prioritized Project Review meetings to manage financial expectations, support client relations, and discuss project creation opportunities; assists Project Managers with action items, delivering projects “as sold,” and following VHB best business practices.
• Serve as Principal-in-Charge or Senior Project Manager on select projects and oversees relationships with key clients as it relates to performance and project delivery, and manages important project assignments.
• Serves as a VHB ambassador, promoting VHB’s success and seeking innovative ways to lead industry engagement and increase visibility in key external organizations.
• Actively collaborates with the Corporate Real Estate and Institutions Market Leaders, corresponding Regional Market Leaders, as well as the Southeast Marketing and multi-disciplinary Atlanta Leadership Team to set a vision and strategy for the markets within the state.
• Facilitates and supports client relationships across VHB regions and markets.

• Proven ability to build, oversee and lead a team of industry professionals.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of the markets that VHB services and actively promotes the concept of integrated thinking within the organization.
• Ability to think and act strategically in developing business practices and approaches.
• Understands the importance of strong local context knowledge and ability to develop key external relationships critical to building prominence and business.
• Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills, including ability to mentor staff and successfully leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
• Highly motivated self-starter.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

 Qualifications

• A minimum of 10-15+ years of relevant management experience in an A&E firm.
• BS in civil engineering, transportation planning, management or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Prior experience in management or leadership position.
• Knowledgeable in a broad range of engineering, transportation, and planning topics, spanning both the public and private sectors
• Ability to travel up to 15-20% of the time.

Georgia Real Estate and Institutions Market Leader is a full-time position. To support market team effectiveness and positive team building, role requires that a minimum of 50% of time be deployed ‘in-office’. Home office could be Atlanta Midtown, Tucker, or Buford VHB Offices in Georgia.
