The General Superintendent is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing field operations on multiple concurrent projects across the nation and the Bahamas. Leading and mentoring field superintendents is the primary objective. These commercial sector projects will typically vary in size from $250K to $10M. This role is responsible for ensuring field superintendents execute projects safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service. The General Superintendent will act as a liaison between field superintendents and upper management plus provide technical expertise, training, and additional resources.
What you’ll do….
- Oversee all field operations renovation projects nationwide and in the Bahamas.
- Lead and mentor superintendents ensuring consistency in project execution
- Collaborate with Directors, Project Directors, Construction Managers, and other stakeholders to resolve challenges and optimize project delivery.
- Refine standard operating procedures and quality control measures across all projects.
- Review project plans, schedules, and scopes of work to ensure alignment with client expectations and company standards.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect progress, quality, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations, ensuring a safe working environment across all job sites.
- Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations on all projects.
- Coordinate labor and equipment allocation across multiple job sites to ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Monitor project schedules adjusting as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential delays or challenges
- Serve as the primary point of contact for superintendents, providing regular updates to operations and senior leadership.
- Ensure that superintendent project documents responsibilities and expense reporting meet with company guidelines and deadlines.
- Prepare and present detailed reports, including metrics on project timelines, budgets, and safety performance
- Education and Experience:
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field
- 10 years of similar experience with at least 5 years in a superintendent or equivalent role; construction or restoration experience a plus
- Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in office software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction practices, materials, and methods.
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
- Familiarity with local and national building codes and OSHA regulations.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Fluent in English, Spanish a plus
- Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Frequent travel required to job sites across the country.
- Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet project demands.
- Physically capable of walking job sites, climbing ladders, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs.
