Nestled within the San Francisco Design Center, Tapestry Bistro + Bar weaves flavor, art, and community into each bite. Our dining experience transcends the mundane, delivering a true masterpiece of culinary delight. Currently, Tapestry operates as an upscale cafe and bar, featuring a wide range of gourmet grab-and-go options and an innovative bar program. This summer, we have expanded into a full-service Modern American Bistro, with a chef-crafted menu including small plates, lunch and dinner entrees, shareables, and more.
We are in search of a dynamic and highly organized General Manager with extensive experience in full-service restaurant management to manage Tapestry Bistro + Bar. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations to ensure smooth functioning and optimal performance. You will be a key player in maintaining our reputation for providing exceptional experiences and fostering a positive work environment for our team members.
This position requires a dynamic individual who excels in multitasking, fosters a positive work environment, and ensures the seamless execution of restaurant activities. In addition to managing Tapestry Bistro + Bar, this position will also manage beverage service for the San Francisco Design Center’s event space.
This position will be responsible for:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide strong leadership and direction to the team, including hiring, training, and mentoring staff
- Foster a culture of teamwork, excellence, and accountability among all team members
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to promote growth and development
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, to ensure efficiency and adherence to company standards
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing waste
- Enforce health and safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment for both guests and employees
Customer Service:
- Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service and ensure that all team members prioritize guest satisfaction
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, striving to exceed customer expectations
Financial Management:
- Manage budget and closely monitor expenses and revenue to achieve financial targets
- Analyze P&Ls and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize profitability
- Implement cost-control measures without compromising quality or service standards
Quality Assurance:
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency, working closely with the kitchen team to ensure adherence to recipes and procedures
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with sanitation regulations
Qualifications and Expectations:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or similar leadership role in the restaurant industry
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
- Strong business acumen and proficiency in financial management
- Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for creating memorable experiences
- Solid understanding of restaurant operations, including inventory management, food safety, and compliance
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
