About the Job
As a general maintenance technician, you play a big role in keeping our schools safe with a nurturing environment that exhibits pride for our students. Your role will include a wide variety of general building maintenance functions such as: carpentry, painting electrical, plumbing, flooring, fencing and minor building repairs. You will perform numerous other assignments as specified by management.

On the day-to-day basis, you can look forward to the following:
Work Performed
- Cleans, inspects, and maintains building systems.
- Performs preventative maintenance to all building systems.
- Works off ladders, scaffolds, lifts, etc.
- Completes work in accordance with all building codes.
- Understands proper use of hand and power tools.
- Maintains a safe working environment.
- Performs routine paperwork as required.
- Works independently and with a minimum amount of guidance.
- Knows and uses all safety related procedures.
- Assists in the installation of technology/phone systems.
- Has 24-hour availability for emergency services.
- Performs miscellaneous grounds duties.
- Assemble and install a wide variety of apparatus/equipment.
- Works weekends as needed.
- Assists with set-up for facility requests.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by management.

What you bring to the table:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical School Training (Highly desirable)
- HVAC and/or electrician experience
- Requires the use of common sense understanding of instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
- Ability to handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
- Advanced use of shop math; and reading, writing
- (Attendance) - Daily attendance is required to support the KIPP's educational program.
- (Mobility) - Requires independent travel to work sites.
- (Reading) - Reads instructions in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment; identifies material by label and written or computer listings.
- (Dexterity) - Transports materials between District locations; performs repairs to equipment, fixtures, and buildings; retrieves materials from storage areas; moves materials and equipment into and out of storage; operates motor vehicles to complete job tasks.
- (Writing) - Records written reports of maintenance activities.
- (Communicating) - Provides instruction to District employee; discusses repair procedures with mechanics; communicates with employees, citizens, suppliers, etc.
- (Sight) - Visually troubleshoots and repairs system, structural and equipment components.
- Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
- Exerts up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or
- Exerts up to 25 pounds to a negligible amount of force constantly.
