About the Job
Responsible for maintaining the organization's facilities and equipment including a variety of related duties.
Principal Accountabilities:
Ability to lead department in terms of technical and supervisory responsibilities. Performs duties as needed and directed by Manager. Assist with special projects as assigned. Overall responsibility to manage workload and communicate schedule and resource issues to management. |
Ability to lift 50 Lbs. |
Performs preventative maintenance on beds, wheelchairs, stretchers and all other rolling stock as directed. |
Possesses an understanding and skills related to maintaining building infrastructure |
Possesses an understanding of blueprints, diagrams and schematics |
Performs repairs on fire & smoke doors |
Performs repairs on ceilings & ceiling systems |
Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures |
Performs repairs on flooring, stair treads, railings, bumpers and wall surfaces |
Ability to trouble shoot and perform basic repairs on roofing systems |
Ability to respond and quickly mitigate roof leaks with tarps, hoses and other means to minimize damage and interruption to patient care |
Ability to quickly asses any building related leak or adverse condition in terms of the source of the deficiency; this would include plumbing supply lines, roof drains, waste lines, HVAC, and sprinkler systems. Technician should be able to quickly mitigate while the appropriate trades make repairs. |
Ability to make repairs to tile, acrovyn, bathroom partitions and fixtures |
Uses, maintains power tools and hand tools in good working conditions |
Knowledge of all construction materials associated with commercial buildings |
Possesses understanding of the daily operations of the department supported. (hospital, clinic, offsite locations, etc.) |
Possesses an understanding of state and local building codes, Joint Commission, NFPA and other regulatory standards |
Ensures service performed and documentation of assigned work orders is accurate and completed in a timely manner |
Demonstrates the ability to elicit information from/listen to customers as needed for troubleshooting and general support |
Participates in snow removal activities as directed. Assists team members in completing their assigned tasks. |
Practices safety first, makes use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) |
Working knowledge of proper procedures for removal and remediation of common building related hazards |
Ability to safely work with compressed gasses - in cylinder and pressure vessel configurations |
Understands role and responsibilities during Code Red activation and appropriate fire extinguisher use |
Knowledge of spill prevention & clean up, universal waste, recycling of hazardous & non-hazardous materials |
Interacts with hospital team members in a courteous and respectful manner. Provides appropriate updates to customer regarding time to completion and/or the status of resources or materials needed to complete the job |
Ability to articulate building deficiencies in an appropriate manner as to not create a misunderstanding with respect to immediate hazards or risks |
Understanding of general maintenance and construction terms and schedules |
Develop and maintain positive relationships with department representatives, leadership and senior leadership |
