About The Role:
As Mochi Health’s first Legal Counsel, you’ll have the opportunity to shape our legal framework, ensuring that we are both compliant and proactive as we grow. We need a resilient, strategic thinker who’s not afraid to tell us the hard truths and who can act as both an advisor and a partner. You’ll help build our legal processes from scratch, establish a risk-aware environment, and play a key role in guiding the company through regulatory and operational decisions. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with various teams, bringing a practical approach to solving legal issues with a strong understanding of the startup environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement legal strategies that align with business goals, ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare laws and regulations.
- Identify, assess, and manage potential legal risks to protect Mochi Health while maintaining operational flexibility.
- Advise on corporate governance matters and maintain necessary documentation, including formation, shareholder agreements, and board resolutions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts such as vendor agreements, service agreements, employment contracts, and partnerships.
- Develop and update internal policies to ensure legal alignment with industry best practices.
- Work cross-functionally with product, operations, and clinical teams to provide actionable legal guidance.
- Manage external legal counsel and resources as needed.
Who You Are:
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience.
- A startup-ready mindset—you’re adaptable, driven, and thrive in an ever-evolving environment.
- Strong chops in healthcare law, corporate governance, and contract negotiation (and ready to bring your A-game).
- Top-notch communication skills—you can make legal lingo sound clear, actionable, and team-friendly.
- Integrity and judgment, with the confidence to call out risks and navigate complex challenges.

The base salary for this full-time position ranges from $200,000 to $300,000, in addition to equity and benefits. The salary range listed in each job posting represents the minimum and maximum targets for new hire salaries across all locations. Actual compensation within this range is determined by various factors, such as job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and location.
