About the Job
This position’s primary job function is to perform forensic interviews of children. This position works with multiple agencies to assist in the investigation of severe child abuse cases primarily in Denton, Wise, and Jack Counties. The person filling this position must have a working knowledge of investigative and prosecution procedures. The staff member must demonstrate excellent intrapersonal skills, ability to communicate both orally and in writing, and strong organizational skills. The staff member must demonstrate professionalism with clients, co-workers, team members and maintain composure and be able to make judicious decisions in high stress situations.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate, schedule, and perform forensic interviews at the request of Child Protective Services, law enforcement, or the DA’s office of children ages 2 and older who are suspected of having been either sexually or severely physically abused or have witnessed a violent crime
- Document services provided to clients and the multidisciplinary team
- Participate in case reviews
- Prepare for and provide court testimony as requested
- Maintain interview skills, including attending regional and in-house peer reviews, observing forensic interviews conducted by other trained forensic interviewers, doing self-critiques, and staying up to date on research, relevant issues, and best practice
- Maintain and manage forensic interview work product
- Partner with CAC Family Advocates for effective service delivery
- Participate in the on-call rotation, requiring after-hours and holiday availability
- Maintain confidentiality
- Other duties as assigned
Travel
This position is based in the Lewisville, TX office, but the candidate must be willing to work at all offices (Bridgeport, Lewisville, and Denton) when agency needs arise.
Education and Training
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, Criminal Justice, or a related field is required
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years experience working with law enforcement, CPS investigations, or District Attorney’s office required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
