Primary Responsibilities:
Menu Planning & Nutrition:
- Collaborate with dietitians to design balanced, resident-specific meal plans that comply with dietary needs, restrictions, and preferences.
- Use specialized software with screen readers or voice-command tools to manage menu creation, meal tracking, and food inventory.
Team Leadership:
- Lead a team of kitchen staff, including cooks, food aides, and dishwashers.
- Hold regular meetings to ensure food preparation and kitchen operations meet health and safety standards.
- Delegate tasks and supervise the overall operation through feedback from staff, focusing on teamwork and communication.
Vendor & Inventory Management:
- Manage food orders and supplies using technology, such as voice-activated inventory management systems.
- Partner with vendors to ensure timely delivery of fresh, high-quality ingredients while monitoring costs.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Work closely with staff to ensure adherence to food safety standards, including hygiene, proper storage, and temperature regulations.
- Organize and conduct regular staff training sessions on best practices for food safety.
Resident Interaction:
- Engage with residents to gather feedback on meal satisfaction and preferences through regular surveys or in-person discussions.
- Utilize staff input to adapt meal offerings for resident satisfaction.
Administrative Duties:
- Oversee the department’s budget, balancing quality with cost-efficiency.
- Utilize technology to handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll, and reporting.
