Summary
Performs all scrubbing, stripping, and polishing of all floors using floor care equipment. Burnishes floor using the burnishing machine as necessary. Performs regular vacuuming, extraction, and spot treatments on carpet as necessary. Moves furniture and equipment for rearranging of office and cleaning. Handles room setup and break down for special events. Keeps utility rooms and storage rooms neat and orderly on an ongoing basis. Returns unused or unsoiled supplies to the appropriate area at the end of the day. Informs supervisor and/or manager when supplies need to be re-ordered. Keeps all floor care equipment maintained in good working order through preventative maintenance and cleaning. Maintains janitor closet in a sanitary condition. Cares for all hard surface floors and uses proper "Caution/Wet Floor" signs according to departmental procedures. Operates and maintains all floor equipment in a clean, safe manner. Cross trained to perform the essential function of the housekeeper position. Performs project work including general cleaning of chairs, wastebaskets, Kick plates, Restroom walls, Elevator tracks, and changing shower or cubicle curtains. Maintains department equipment in a clean, safe condition. Cleans and performs nominal maintenance on upright vacuum (i.e., change bag, check for blockage), work carts and equipment; removes unsafe equipment from service. Meets safety and cleanliness guidelines 100% of the time. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Institutional housekeeping and floor care experience preferred
- Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to demonstrate correct use of work-related chemicals, supplies, tools and equipment
- Lift and transport objects weighing up to 75lbs
- Ability to stoop, bend, walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Work from a ladder
- Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands for working with required equipment
