About the Job
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; Technical School or associate's degree with electronics background preferred.
- Possess and maintain a Texas Commercial Driver's License with (P) and (S) endorsements with acceptable driving record as measured by the School Bus Driver's Record Evaluation Criteria (including the passing of annual physicals), or the ability to obtain a CDL within 45 days of employment.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in the use of personal computer, Microsoft Office applications, e-mail, internet and departmental specific applications, etc.
- Electronics and mechanically controlled systems education preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years with student verification systems preferred.
- Knowledge of camera systems preferred.
- Professional verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Possess the ability to work under pressure and regularly meet deadlines.
- Possess the ability to work flexible and irregular hours and work outdoors as required.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Physically able to lift, bend and carry up to 50 pounds.

SALARY/PAYGRADE:
$24.43/HS10
Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year 2021-2022
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for district-wide GPS tablets, student verification, communication equipment and school bus camera solutions.
- Oversee and perform repairs, preventive maintenance, diagnostics and inspections on all district vehicle cameras, GPS tablets, and communication equipment systems.
- Oversee and assist in the management of charter drivers assigned to camera and GPS teams.
- Demonstrate professionalism at all times through effective communication, both written and verbal, with transportation employees, campus personnel, vendors and community.
- Assist when more in-depth issues occur as needed.
- Maintain accurate records for customer support calls with vendors.
- Manage and track warranty claims with multiple vendors.
- Attend and provide training to maintain and support installed equipment and software at the transportation centers as well as campuses.
- Prepare instructions necessary to facilitate easy distribution of software/hardware installations by designated personnel.
- Document service and maintenance actions.
- Demonstrate equipment functionality and visual inspections to Transportation employees.
- Maintain accurate, updated records of equipment inventory.
- Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Participate in meetings and conversation with vendors as requested.
- Evaluate systems and technical information data as received.
- Coordinate with software companies to troubleshoot and repair technical issues with equipment on or off the bus.
- Frequent districtwide travel required.
- Safely operate a school bus as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts, work on ladders and creepers. Frequent exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
