Job Announcement:
The City of Webster Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Fire Inspector. This position assists the Fire Marshal with the inspection of occupancies within the city's jurisdiction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency is required.
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection - Fire Inspector Certification is required.
- 1-3 years of fire inspection, and fire safety education experience.
- Public sector experience is required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Interpersonal skills: Ability to effectively interact with the public.
- Blueprint reading: Ability to read blueprints and architectural drawings.
- Hazard recognition: Ability to recognize and mitigate fire safety hazards by applying adopted fire codes, NFPA standards and city ordinances.
- Communication skills: Excellent verbal, oral, and writing skills.
- Presentation skills: Ability to make public presentations.
Duties:
- Assist the Fire Marshal with:
- Performing annual fire inspections
- Conducting public fire safety education and training programs upon request
Salary Information:
- This is a flexible part-time position working a maximum of sixteen (16) hours per week.
- Hourly salary starts at $30.00 per hour. Part-time positions do not qualify for benefits.
- Candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment physical examination, illegal drug screen, and criminal background check.
