Payroll Analyst
Reporting to the Associate Director of Payroll he/she will focus primarily on Student Payroll data. They will lead master data investigation, auditing, and reconciliation relating to Student Payroll. In coordination with Associate Director, develop standard reports and processes along with metrics to assist management with making key decisions. Develop deep understanding of data extracts to evaluate. This position will also play an active role in evaluation of data integration in our new systems acting as a key member of the team that works with BUWorks and Student Employment. This position works collaboratively with other finance and administrative positions across the University to facilitate problems that arise around Student data. They will focus on compliance and scrutinize master data to mitigate the risk of fines and penalties from the federal government. Boston University Payroll Team pays over twenty-seven thousand individuals a year with almost half of those being students. This position will play a key part in getting those payments correct not just from an amount standpoint but also covering all areas of taxation, and withholdings that master data touches. They will communicate with and meet with managers on an as needed basis.
The incumbent should have an understanding of payroll, accounting and exceptional analytical skills. They should have the ability to write an analysis of the data in a concise and clear manner. Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as a self-starter and team member. A knowledge of SAP or ERP systems is a plus. Advanced Excel skills are a must.
