What You’ll Do
As the Finance Manager, Production at Madwell, you’ll play a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations for Starfish, our Sibling production company. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including client services, production, and senior leadership, to ensure financial efficiency, accuracy, and growth for Starfish.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing Starfish’ billing and invoicing, ensuring timely and accurate revenue recognition
- Overseeing monthly and quarterly financial reconciliations, including general ledger and account reconciliations
- Leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, working with Head of Content, Starfish and Head of Finance, Madwell to create accurate financial projections
- Ensuring accurate time tracking, payroll, and resource allocation reporting to optimize team utilization and profitability for all production projects
- Developing and implementing enhanced financial reporting and analysis systems to support strategic decision-making
- Managing vendor relationships and accounts payable processes, ensuring compliance with broader company policies
- Collaborating on the implementation and refinement of financial systems to support client profitability and overall financial health
Our Must-Haves
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to financial management
- Strong attention to detail
- Expertise with general ledger functions, including QuickBooks or other company accounting systems
- Advanced skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets, with the ability to analyze and present data clearly
- Excellent communicator, comfortable presenting to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and ready to support colleagues across departments
Where You’ve Been
- 5 years experience in finance or accounting, ideally in a creative agency, production company or entertainment company
- Experience with production or project-based accounting preferred
- Strong track record in financial management, including budget oversight, forecasting, and reconciliations

Salary Range: $85k - $115k
* This is a hybrid role based out of our NYC office, you must be located within commuting distance of Brooklyn, NY to be considered for this role. This role requires the candidate to be in the Brooklyn office 3 times a week, with flexibility to come in more often as needed.*
