Summary:
The Service Tech will be responsible for installation of equipment and training end-users and, OEMs, and customers in troubleshooting, failure analysis, warranty, and start-ups as required to meet the customers' and Power Test requirements in a specified geographic area. This role will be actively liaison with Service team, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales and is responsible for effectively communicating service issues, trends, and opportunities.
Essential Functions:
- Provide technical assistance, failure analysis, and troubleshooting to customers for all Power Test products.
- Schedule and conduct periodic visits to customers to gather their product concerns and report these concerns in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide service support by working directly with the customer to resolve technical problems over the phone, via email and in person.
- Draft and provide formal quotes to customers for service and/or parts as required.
- Follow-up on service-related issues needing attention by Power Test.
- Propose information that may apply to possible warranty settlements and policy adjustments to the Service Manager.
- Submit detailed reports concerning inspections, service work, start-ups, failure analysis, and regional activities. Maintain files inventory of tools and training aids.
- Properly document customer interaction, service visits and expense reports.
- Assist in the aid of information for the writing of technical service bulletins and or product operation manuals or technical publications.
- Provide technical assistance to other functional areas internally to help resolve Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Service, Application and Sales problems as necessary as it affects service.
- Recommend product improvements to company support staff using appropriate channels as voiced by external and internal customers.

Education and Experience Requirements:
An Associate's degree ORfour to eight years related customer service in electronics / electrical controls, mechanical, hydraulic experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (electrical / electronic, AC/DC circuits)
Valid Driver’s license and good driving record.
Ability to travel globally, as required, for 60% of time to perform job tasks.
Ability to obtain a passport
PC proficiency, including MS Office
Ability to operate a variety of small hand tools and power tools, the ability to operate electronic testing equipment, the ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics, and experience operating a digital multimeter
Understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts and application of tools such as micrometers, digital multi meter, RTD simulators, thermocouple simulators, and other calibration tool
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Preferred Experience:
- Global travel experience
- Knowledge of electrical / electronic control systems
- General knowledge of vehicle drivetrain, hydraulics, and control systems
- Wiring and soldering experience
- Experience working with Infor / Visual or Syspro (MRP / ERP systems)
Knowledge and Skill:
- General knowledge of vehicle drivetrain, hydraulics, and control systems a plus.

- Understanding of AC and DC circuits preferred.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts and application of tools such as micrometers, Digital Multi Meter, RTD simulators, thermocouple simulators, and other calibration tools, preferred.
- Demonstrated PC Proficiency, including MS Office and the ability to learn and adapt to new software systems as needed.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, customer specifications, warranties, company standards, operating, maintenance instructions, write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to be hands on and take the initiative to learn about our products and software.
- Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Mathematical skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and the ability to apply concepts of business math to practical situations and dimensions to production. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Ability to read and competently interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, engineering drawings and schematics. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
