Job Overview
We are looking for you: a self-starting, highly motivated Field Application Engineer (FAE) to join our team at Silex Headquarters in Santa Ana, California. As a full-time FAE at Silex Technology America, you will report to the FAE Manager. As a key member of customer front-line support, you collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Regulatory Certification, and Operations. To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate a high sense of urgency and responsiveness to customer requests, questions, and technical support needs.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Be the main technical point of contact for customers throughout their evaluation and design with Silex.
- Own the process for design wins with our most important customers.
- Provide thorough and rapid answers to customer questions as well as proactively ask customer questions on critical information needed.
- Generate “Request for Quotations” (RFQs) for customers who need custom work/support from engineering or regulatory certification support services.
- Track and keep up to date notes, customer communications, project status, and customer issues (cases); using Salesforce to manage data.
- Maintain, prepare, and present information to Silex team about important customer projects using PowerPoint during account review meetings.
- Drive customers from evaluation to production, while managing all necessary technically oriented customer calls.
- Manage post-sales technical issues and support for customers.
- Identify and/or enhance application notes, user guides, quick starts, and release notes which set Silex customer support and engagement apart from our competition.
- Help customers debug wireless hardware/software/regulatory; collaborating with FAE team members and engineering as necessary.
- Continued education through attending webinars, reading technical papers, and deep-dive sessions given by fellow Silex colleagues.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role.
- Familiar with Linux O/S and embedded drivers (preferably wireless).
- Ability to write/modify/debug “C” code.
- Familiarity with hardware schematics and using them to identify test points on actual hardware platforms. Ideally some rudimentary knowledge of CAD layout tools.
- Wireless test network methodology.
- Troubleshoot customer wireless issues as necessary.
- Familiarity with debugging tools such as wireless sniffer, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.
- Working knowledge of short-range radio protocols; ideally Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Demonstrates strong technical background in hardware, software, test, and ideally RF regulatory.
- Experience using customer support database tools such as Salesforce CRM.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Executes with urgency and accountability.
- Demonstrates excellent written/oral communication and strong presentation skills.
- Professional, enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player.
- Works well under pressure.
- Self-motivated, takes initiative, and willing to acquire new skills.
Location/Travel
You will report to our office in Santa Ana, California. Occasional travel is required to support customers on-site, engage in trade shows, and support training as necessary.
Compensation
$100,000 to $140,000 per year Full Time
