Job Summary:
Maintain plant equipment, molds and facilities in excellent working order. Manage machinery, molds, facilities and related systems activities in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner. Ensure the value of the company’s capital assets (facilities, molds, equipment) are protected and enhanced while achieving a minimum of downtime.Ensure HSE compliance with Federal, State and Local laws, compliance to OSHA, Quality System requirements, ISO standards, and Regulatory agency guidelines.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly and indirectly supervises ~3 to 10 employees in the Facility Maintenance and Janitorial departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identifies the maintenance objectives for facility and all equipment, and establishes a plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures
- Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and continuous operation of equipment, molds and building systems including fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls) electrical (lighting, UPS, generators, primary switch gear), lighting and temperature controls systems, critical environments, and digital systems (fire alarm, duress, card access).
- Ensures that maintenance activities are completed and documented per procedure.
- Inspects and evaluates facilities infrastructure and utility systems for liabilities related to equipment age/condition, operating cost or potential failure. Prioritizes recommendations for facility upgrades and prepares justifications for resources to be included in the capital or operating budgets.
- Works with Planning to schedule routine and preventative maintenance based on production requirements to minimize production disruptions, equipment failure, downtime, and corrects any unsafe conditions.
- Tracks downtime per LPMS/MDI and priorities root cause corrective action to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Manages expenditures for facilities and equipment maintenance and repairs
- Ensures appropriate practices for accurate spare parts inventory.
- Manages, trains, and develops department staff to ensure consistent customer support and a safe working environment.
- Accomplishes work through a combination of self-performance and contract management with outside vendors to obtain needed goods, services, and repairs that are reliable and cost-effective.
- Manages relationships with vendors and outside contractors.
- Assure that production and support equipment can produce within the specifications and tolerances established by the equipment vendor/manufacturer – perform calibration activities as required.
- Leads equipment evaluation and facility layout improvement activities.
- Assists in the development of a Capital plan which includes planning for infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements and building modifications to ensure the buildings' future capabilities are maintained.
- Maintains all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the buildings including up-to-date building drawings and specifications, etc.
- Responsible for energy efficiency programs to reduce operational costs.
- Participate in and support lean/continuous improvement initiatives.
- Research outside contractors for quotes. Considering price, quality and past performance. Multiple vendors may be required to negotiate best price. Compare quotes for projects and recommends best course of action to management personnel.
- Coordinates and directs multi-vendor jobs to oversee completion of a project’s execution. Creates and manages timelines for major projects with contractors and personnel, communicates adjustments to timeline to management when necessary.
- Coordinates and participates in the planning and installation of new manufacturing equipment, workstations, and work cells.
- Oversee the preventative maintenance and pest control programs.
- Oversight for handling and storage of chemicals, and support of installation qualification activities.
- Monitor and manage employee performance through the performance management process.
- Provides feedback and pro-active communication to supervisor, management, and co-workers to ensure efficient and effective operations. Contributes input to management based on knowledge of processes toward process and product improvement efforts of the company.
- Adhere to all Company policies, rules, procedures and housekeeping standards as well as the Food and Drug Administrations’ Good Manufacturing Practice, (cGMP), for Medical Devices and Quality Systems Regulation.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Experience with electrical devices and wiring, machine modification experience, HVAC and plumbing experience, hydraulics, construction experience, clean room filtration experience.
Preventative maintenance methods and tactics – knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Adequate knowledge of OSHA regulations to implement and ensure compliance with applicable procedures and ways of operating.
Knowledge of Lock-out/Tag-out processes.
- Understanding and interpretation of technical drawings, schematics and related information.
- Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
- Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and controls.
- Knowledge of multiple testing and monitoring devices, electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing, including safe usage, maintenance and storage.
- Knowledge of related technologies and applications used in manufacturing products, and in the optimization of manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- 5 years manufacturing or plant engineering experience.
- 3 years management or supervisory experience.
- Experience with a metric driven culture.
