Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Facility Engineer to join our team. The Facility Engineer will be responsible for acting as a technical resource to the Engineering and Maintenance Department. The position shall also be responsible for layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and improvement of all plant utility systems. The position also assures that a sound strategy is in place for all utility systems within the facility.
The primary objective of this position is to assure all systems to the facility are properly designed, sized, and maintained in a proper manner. This position will also provide expertise to support the Engineering, Maintenance, and other functional departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain all plant utility systems, and the physical plant including the electrical distribution system, chiller water plant, clean compressed air, RO water
- Implement solutions to improve efficiency and prevent equipment obsolescence Included are capital improvement projects such as installing HVAC systems and installing new facilities and support equipment
- Responsible for the internal project execution. Accountable for project initiation, planning and for overseeing project execution, implementation, and closeout.
- Responsible for the creation/revision of engineering drawings and specifications
- Ensure individual compliance with all federal and state agencies and applicable department programs, including training, documentation, standard operating procedures, and JA Solar policies and procedures
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and equipment in accordance with relevant codes and regulations
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices and diagnostic techniques
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to develop solutions for electrical problems and optimization of systems
- Adhere to safety protocols to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries while working with electrical equipment
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inspections.
- Stay updated on advancements in electrical technology and industry best practices.
- Supervising or training project team members
- Performs other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA-70E, IEEE Standards, voltages up to 480 volts, electrical utility and plant systems, machine controls including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), relay logic, motor controls (VFD’s and servo), temperature and pressure controls including PID, thermocouples, RTD’s and transducers and operator interfaces, HVAC, utility equipment, ASME, ANSI
- Advanced proficiency in MS Project, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of OSHA
- Intermediate knowledge of analytical troubleshooting
- Advanced organizational and time management skills
- Advanced critical reasoning and decision-making skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interpret/write general business documents.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering.
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

- The incumbent will be required to work on a computer for approximately 4 hours per day
- The incumbent may be exposed to conditions where there is electrical equipment on the floor approximately 5% of the time
- The incumbent may be required to climb ladders, walk on the roof, walk around the exterior of the facility approximately 10% or less of the time
- The incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods of 4 hours up to 5% of the time
- The incumbent may be required to work at elevated heights
- The incumbent may be exposed to noise, gases, odors, and wet/slippery conditions
- Requires the ability to concentrate during lengthy technical discussions
- The incumbent may need to work overtime to handle unexpected malfunctions
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location
- May be required to work after hours and on weekends or holidays
Physical requirements:
- Requires prolonged standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
- Heavy Work-Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, to communicate with employees/visitors as well as function safely around equipment
- Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
