Position Overview
Resumes are being accepted for the position of Technical Services Program Coordinator, reporting to the Manager, Technical Services. The successful candidate will assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing administration of the technical services programs, with focus to assistance with capital programs, source water protection and project management. Guided by the goals and objectives of the City’s Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Vision for an inclusive, connected and prosperous city.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination of technical services projects and programs including, but not limited to water services infrastructure upgrades and hydrogeology/water supply.
- Assist project managers in the implementation of the City’s Project Management Policy. Including meeting the project management goals, objectives, document filing and reporting through City programs such as Eclipse.
- Coordinates field inspections, contractors and interviews related to technical services programs and projects.
- Assists the technical services team in preparing presentations and reports and project management documentation, including updating corporate templates and software for progress reporting.
- Acts as a liaison with various Corporate and External agencies in the administration of programs/ projects involving community and external partner participation.
- Attends coordination meetings, public meetings and community events as required.
- Assists the technical services team in the administration and coordination of consultants, contractors and internal staff to ensure completion of projects and programs consistent with City policy and OSHA.
- Assist in the monitoring of Technical Services key performance indicators.
- Review technical reports, applications and drawings for the technical services team and provide recommendations based on the review.
- Development and review of procurement documents for the technical services team following the City’s processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements
- Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through a university degree in Environmental Engineering or a 3 year community college diploma in Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology or closely related field and 3 – 4 years experience in municipal groundwater supply systems providing engineering, geoscience, project management or related technical guidance. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge municipal groundwater supply systems and source protection programming
- Knowledge of the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Ontario Water Resources Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial and federal legislation, acts, regulations and by-laws, Municipal Civil and Environmental Engineering, Industry Best Management Practices and Water processes.
- Knowledge of the Project Management Institute- Program Management Principals and Practices
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders and the general public.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a demanding environment
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to observe and problem solve; analyze and interpret technical and numerical information, evaluate alternatives and make independent decisions and recommendations.
Hours of work
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m. This position is eligible for hybrid and flexible work arrangement options (as per current corporate policy).
Pay/Salary
CUPE 973 Grade 8: $33.19 - $40.76
