The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and functionality of all facilities within Varsity Campus. This position involves managing a team of maintenance staff, coordinating and executing repairs and upgrades, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and collaborating with other departments to ensure a seamless and comfortable campus environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Management:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive maintenance program for all campus facilities.
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations, ensuring timely completion of work orders and repairs.
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and address them proactively.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all facilities meet or exceed safety regulations and codes.
- Develop and implement safety protocols, procedures, and training for maintenance staff.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections and address any issues promptly.
- Collaborate with relevant campus departments to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Vendor Management:
- Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and contractors to ensure
- prompt and efficient services.
- Solicit and evaluate bids for repairs, upgrades, and renovation projects.
- Negotiate contracts, manage vendor performance, and ensure timely completion of
- work within budget.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the facilities maintenance budget effectively.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce expenses without compromising quality.
- Track expenses, prepare reports, and provide regular updates to the management team.
- Capital Planning and Project Management:
- Collaborate with the management team to develop long-term capital plans for facility improvements and upgrades.
- Manage construction and renovation projects, ensuring compliance with timelines and budgetary constraints.
- Liaise with architects and contractors to provide input during design and construction phases.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in an educational or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
- EPA certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in managing and developing a team of maintenance staff.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management software and other relevant technology tools.
Additional requirements:
- Reliable Transportation: Candidates must have dependable transportation to ensure prompt attendance and responsiveness to work-related needs.
- On-Call Availability: Must be comfortable with being on-call for emergency services outside of regular working hours.
- August Turn Readiness: Availability is required during the month of August to assist with apartment turnovers and related tasks.
