Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team!
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs general maintenance and custodial-type duties, routine construction and installation tasks related to exhibitions and minor interior renovations.
- Uses general cleaning and maintenance equipment, carpenter's hand tools and power tools, painter's and dry-Wallers tools, audio-visual equipment, gardening and light snow removal tools, and three-speed, manual transmission carry-van.
- Performs routine maintenance of gallery facilities including painting, simple carpentry tasks and light bulb replacement.
- Performs simple construction tasks related to minor interior renovations including painting and dry walling.
- Performs general heavy and light cleaning and housekeeping tasks within both public and service areas.
- Performs routine snow removal at entrances and exits to physical plant.
- Performs light gardening work and cleanup contiguous to gallery shrubbery beds such as raking, weeding and mulching, and sidewalk sweeping.
- Performs routine setup and cleanup for special events including an annual outdoor art show and sale.
- Performs routine audio-visual projection booth services for special events, exhibition-related and special programming.
- Works outside of gallery facilities as projects require, such as warehousing gallery supplies of artworks related to permanent and special exhibitions.
- Packs and unpacks works of art merchandise and printed matter for temporary exhibition and permanent collections and Gallery Store.
- Builds crates for works of art scheduled to travel. Packs for shipment printed material and Gallery Store merchandise.
- Performs construction tasks related to the preparation and installation of temporary and permanent exhibitions.
- Prepares works of art for installation as directed.
- Makes minor repairs to picture frames including replacement of glass.
- May act as guard in emergencies.
- Performs other duties requiring comparable skill and responsibility as directed.
- Pickup and delivery of supplies needed for exhibitions and programming (works of art, films, printed material, & building supplies, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions and 1-2 years general carpentry or maintenance experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a valid New York State driver's license.
Hours:
- Full Time - 40 hours per week
- Sunday-Thursday: 7:00AM-3:30PM
- Possible Weekends and Holidays
