JOB TITLE: Maintenance Helper
LOCATION: Tajiguas Landfill
FLSA EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, Hourly
PREPARED DATE: 8/1/2024
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
DIRECT REPORTS: None.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance Technicians in ensuring functionality and reliability of heavy equipment, conveyors, screens, shredders, and facility building.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Inspecting machines, gear boxes, bearings, structural support, electrical, engines, transmissions etc. reporting issues and assisting Techs with necessary repairs.
- Assisting Techs and Operations to achieve maximum reliability.
- Performing thorough cleaning of equipment, utilizing compressed air and manual practices.
- Cleaning and applying lubricants to machinery components.
- Replenishing fluids and components of engines and machinery.
- Maintains a feeling of pride in work; strives to achieve all goals.
- Supports the MarBorg Mission.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum of 1-year experience in an industrial setting
- Basic maintenance skills involving the use of tools and equipment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to diagnose simple mechanical problems & make adjustments
- Trained on MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LOTO
- (Able to demonstrate how to use the LOTO charts, Able to identify and eliminate stored energy)
- Trained on FILLING OUT PRE JOB/POST JOB CHECK LIST
- FALL PROTECTION Trained
- MAN LIFT/SCISSOR LIFT Trained
- Trained on filling out DAILY MAINTENANCE SHEETS
- Trained on all needed hand tools to complete the following tasks (Able to demonstrate the correct/safe use of all required tools to complete the following tasks)
- Trained on safe practices with compressed air
- Prior work with heavy machinery preferred
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Position requires excellent verbal and written English communication skills including; ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Basic Spanish communication skills desired.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, multiply, divide. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid Class C Drivers License
- Forklift certification desirable.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and dirty. Required to put on protective outfits, like gloves, safety footwear, and hardhat.
Compensation details: 17-21 Hourly Wage
