Reports to: Domestic Production Manager
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our retail company's Production team. As fabric and trim buyer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining on time delivery and proper instock availability of all fabrics and trims. Your meticulousness and focus will contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of our production processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in the apparel industry and has a passion for fabric and trims.
Responsibilities:
- Purchasing - creating and placing PO’s for trims/fabrics, negotiating pricing, delivery terms, lead times and ensuring correct yields
- Stocking - Ensure optimal stock levels on all fabrics and trims to ensure timely production
- Projecting may be required on items with long lead times.
- Stock Library - prepare a library of in stock fabrics for design to work into
- Reporting - run daily, weekly and monthly reports in AIMS to account for needed trims and fabrics
- WIP Reports and weekly meetings with Mill/Contractors
- Ensuring production is on track
- Bulk Approvals - based on lab dip/design approvals
- Maintaining trim and fabric consistencies between PO’s
- Managing Lots
- Manage/receive trim inventory in AIMS
- Closing PO’s as delivered
- Check all received fabric/trim for accuracy
- Against packing lists
- Cross Department Relations - work closely with Pre Production/Design on any upcoming fabrics and trims
- Working under pressure - ability to handle large volumes of work and multiple priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines
- Occasional sourcing of fabrics and trims
- May be required to assist in other areas in order to ensure on time production
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university with emphasis on textiles, fashion, supply chain, business
- Minimum of 5 years apparel industry experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a buyer for a manufacturing company
- Proficiency in using AIMS data software, spreadsheets, and databases
- Solid understanding and knowledge of fabric, yarn, fibers, threads, colors, and fabric construction
- Background in inventory and materials management
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate effectively within a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving data-related issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
