SUMMARY: The Facilities Supervisor performs various work activities associated with the administration, management and technical support of the City’s comprehensive of facility maintenance program. The incumbent is responsible for project management and on-site contractor relations to secure the continuous improvement of City facilities and buildings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides daily supervision of Facilities Division personnel. Assigns work based upon the quantity and priority of work to be done.
- Develops and implements the maintenance schedule for all facilities, buildings and equipment.
- Implements facilities maintenance training program. Instructs and guides departments regarding plans and specifications for facility improvement and construction projects.
- Provides facility set-up services for programs and special events that occur in City buildings.
- Supervises setup of election equipment at City and non-City polling sites. Oversees maintenance, operation, and testing of the City’s Emergency warning siren system.
- Ensures the complete and accurate collection of data generated by departmental operations regarding facilities utilization, operating costs, and efficiency.
- Prepares capital improvement requirements and construction needs annually.
- Prepares budget request for Facilities Division and provides operating departments with budgetary information for their budgets.
- Maintains systematic, complete, and accurate records of Division activities, services, and personnel.
- Oversees contracts with outside services and manages facility-related capital projects.
- Fosters a productive and collaborative work environment by coordinating work efforts with other City departments.
- Assists Division staff with evaluation and improvement of the work environment.
- Maintains proper and favorable public and internal image of the Department.
- Responds to public inquiries regarding any aspect of facilities operations.
- Manages the Division's safety in the workplace initiatives, including employee communication, training, City-wide standards, and enforcement.
- Ensures general liability-related and occupational safety at facilities and buildings.

THE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree with coursework in building construction or facilities management, or a related field preferred.
- At least 5 years’ experience in facilities management.
- At least 2 years’ supervisory experience, preferably in the public sector.
- At least 3 years’ experience in general building construction.
- Considerable knowledge of modern practices and techniques of facilities maintenance and project management.
- Working knowledge of, and experience in, buildings and facilities maintenance operations, equipment and procedures.
- State of Wisconsin Driver’s License.
Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered.
THE 2024 SALARY RANGE IS: Salary Grade 5: $81,028.22 -$105,345.76 annually with excellent benefits. (Appointment is normally at the beginning of the range.)
