Responsibilities:
1. Assist attorneys in the preparation and filing of legal documents and correspondence related to personal injury cases.
2. Conduct client interviews and maintain general contact with the client, ensuring they are kept informed about their case.
3. Carry out legal research to support cases and provide relevant information to attorneys.
4. Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing system.
5. Help attorneys prepare for trial by preparing trial notebooks, exhibits, and witness files.
6. Gather evidence, such as medical records and insurance information, that can be used in discovery.
7. Draft legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and other litigation documents.
8. Coordinate the discovery process, including the scheduling of depositions and expert witness testimony.
9. Provide administrative support to lawyers and enhance office effectiveness.
Job Details
1. An associate degree in paralegal studies, or a bachelor's degree in another field with a certificate in paralegal studies.
2. A minimum of 7 years of experience as a paralegal in personal injury law.
3. Familiarity with the legal principles and procedures related to personal injury law.
4. Strong knowledge of the rules of civil procedure and court rules.
5. Proven experience with the preparation of legal documents, conducting research, and preparing for trials.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
7. High level of organization and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
8. Proficiency in using legal research software, Microsoft Office Suite, and case management software.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Certified Paralegal or Certified Legal Assistant credentials are a plus.
