Job Summary:
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Human Resources (HR) department. This includes leading and directing routine functions such as recruiting, hiring, and interviewing staff, as well as administering pay, benefits, and leave policies. Additionally, the HR Manager is responsible for ensuring that company policies and practices are enforced in a fair and consistent manner, while also providing guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters. With a strong understanding of labor laws and regulations, the HR Manager is instrumental in creating a positive work environment that promotes employee satisfaction and productivity.
Human Resources Manager Responsibilities (assist with the following):
· Partners with the leadership teams to understand and execute Hydra's human resource and talent strategy, particularly concerning current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
· Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
· Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
· Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
· Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
· Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
· Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
· Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
· Administer claims and benefits.
· Oversee compensation and Benefits Administration.
· Manages compliance with drug policy/testing and initiates background checks (as needed).
· Oversee the Employee Performance Appraisal system.
· Liaises with the QHSE Manager for SEMS compliance.
Education/Skills:
· Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in Human Resources, or related field required.
· A minimum of three years of human resource management experience is preferred.
· SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly desired.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
· Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
· Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
· Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
Technology Requirements
· Must be proficient and able to effectively work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Must be able to work on Mac computers. Training is available upon request.
· Must understand document control and file sharing procedures, Dropbox, and other online tools.
Physical Requirements
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift 10 pounds at times.
· Must possess and maintain the physical ability to safely perform the duties of the Human Resources Manager's position.
Human Resources Manager Authorities:
· Make hiring/termination recommendations.
· Enforces company employment policies.
· Authority to initiate corrective and preventive actions and report non-conformities.
