The Executive Director, Business Development leads the strategic planning and execution to maximize the value of the newly acquired external asset, focusing on its global launch and market penetration. This role involves overseeing cross-functional integration, including clinical development, commercial/marketing, and manufacturing, to drive topline revenue growth and bottom-line profitability
Key responsibilities include directing global launch sequencing, facilitating communication with internal upper management, group companies and monitoring product performance post-launch. The Executive Director will also manage the relationship with the external party from which the asset was acquired, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and fostering collaboration
This position requires a dynamic leader with a strong track record in the pharmaceutical industry, capable of driving cross-functional teams towards achieving global value maximization.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership and Value Maximization (25%):
- Lead strategic planning and execution to maximize the value, including topline revenue growth and bottom-line profitability, of the newly acquired external asset, ensuring its successful launch and market penetration.
- Cross-Functional Integration and Oversight (20%):
- Oversee and integrate various global functions including but not limited to clinical development, commercial/marketing, and manufacturing functions, to ensure cohesive and efficient activities for the sake of global value maximization.
- Global Launch Sequencing (15%):
- Direct and manage the global launch sequencing strategy, ensuring timely and effective product launches in key markets while adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Internal Upper Management Communication including Group Companies with Performance Monitoring (15%):
- Facilitate clear and consistent communication among internal upper management, ensuring alignment on goals, progress, and challenges. Monitor the performance of the product post-launch, analyze key metrics, making data-driven decisions to optimize product success.
- Alliance Management (20%):
- Manage and nurture the relationship with the external party from which the asset was acquired, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and fostering a collaborative partnership. Negotiate with the party as appropriate.
- Performs Other Duties as Assigned. (5%)
Qualifications
- BA or BS required; MBA preferred
- Proven track record of at least 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry, including significant leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience in leading the successful launch of pharmaceutical products in global markets.
- Experience in managing relationships with external partners, including negotiation and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans that drive value maximization and achieve financial targets.
- Ability to develop and communicate a clear strategic vision for product development and commercialization.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, including topline revenue growth and bottom-line profitability.
- In-depth knowledge of global regulatory requirements and standards in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal colleagues and upper management.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor product performance, analyze key metrics, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proven ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement effective action plans.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage and nurture relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
- Required to travel domestically and internationally up to 35% as needed.

The salary range for this position is $245,000 - $325,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
This position is eligible to participate in our annual Short-Term Incentive (STI) program. Specific information about the plan including eligibility rules and target, will be furnished upon hire.
