DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Objective: Provide support to those with developmental disabilities in a person-centered way. Encourage independence and daily personal growth while assisting with cares and engaging in home and community activities.

Schedule: Work anywhere from 8 to 40 hours a week! This includes working at least every other Saturday and Sunday. Plus, fill-in and holidays. Shifts may include 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, or other short shifts, including 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM or 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Wage: $16.50 (Part-Time)—$18.00 (Full-Time) per hour, with additional shift differentials in specific locations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care for others in an individualized and meaningful way.
- Assist in personal cares.
- Engage in community activities, i.e., bowling, shopping, watching a movie or exercising.
- Complete daily direct care such as bathing, toileting, feeding, and dressing.
- Complete household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
- Maintain HIPAA Compliance in all communications to HMC, whether written or verbal, external and internal.
- Follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or general education degree.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
- Good communication skills.
- Must hold a valid United States driver's license and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier unless otherwise noted.
- Must pass the MN Department of Human Services Background Study
- Prior experience or training is not required, but having experience as a CNA, PCA, Caregiver, DSP, or healthcare-related professional is preferred.
