Our Opportunity
GPJ is hiring an Estimator to join our growing team!
This role is on-site, requiring you to report to our Smyrna, TN office location a minimum of 5 days per week.
Your Role
As the Estimator, your role is vital in overseeing and coordinating all estimating projects assigned to you. Your goal is to ensure the utmost accuracy and quality while maximizing profit margins in areas like fabrication, refurbishment, graphics, and special projects.
With your solid background in fabrication, you're well-equipped to interpret conceptual designs and bidding information, no matter how it's presented. It's all about delivering top-notch results and maintaining high standards throughout the estimation process.
Depending on the project, your responsibilities might focus exclusively on fabrication, or you could be in charge of overseeing all aspects of a particular project. It's all about delivering the best results and maintaining high standards throughout the estimation process.
Your Skills
- Participate in all aspects of fabrication estimating and bid preparations on a wide variety of industrial trade show, automotive, international, activations, permanent installations, and special event projects
- Follow GPJ estimating standards and policies
- Cost Analysis: Evaluate and analyze the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses related to project proposals.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bids for projects, ensuring all elements are considered and accurately estimated.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of all estimates, including assumptions, methodologies, and supporting data.
- Vendor Management: Source and obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring cost-effective procurement.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and propose mitigation strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers and other stakeholders to gather necessary project information and specifications.
- Reporting: Generate comprehensive reports and presentations for management, highlighting key cost factors and potential savings
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, cost benchmarks, and best practices to continuously improve the accuracy and efficiency of estimates
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanSwift), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

Your Experience
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction Management or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating, preferably within the experiential industry.
- Familiarity with interior and exterior building materials and fabrication techniques.
Travel & Mobility
- Limited travel required
