BAE Systems is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support at our site in San Diego, CA. In this role as an Environmental Engineer, you'll be reporting to the Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager as part of the Safety, Health, and Environmental ("SHE") team providing guidance to the operations, maintenance, and support teams at the San Diego, CA site. You will ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements and drive continuous improvement in environmental management systems and sustainability.
Included duties:
+ Develop, implement, and maintain programs to ensure that environmental regulatory obligations are fulfilled in a cost-effective manner.
+ Analyze and maintain detailed calculations and records of pollutant concentrations in air, water, waste, and soil samples.
+ Prepare reports, permits, and studies for submission to regulatory agencies, such as the EPA.
+ Develop, promote, and support environmental sustainability efforts regarding energy reduction, waste diversion, and water consumption.
+ Support pollution prevention and waste minimization programs through periodic monitoring, routine compliance inspections, and internal audits.
+ Monitor developing environmental federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and risk initiatives; analyze potential impacts on site operations; provide operations and management with information as appropriate.
+ Ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, consent decrees, and permits.
+ Maintain the site s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certification.
+ Ensure that corrective actions from audits, inspections, CARs (corrective action reports), and incident investigations are completed and effective.
+ Communicate critical environmental compliance information to management and facility personnel.
+ Participate, as necessary, in response to environmental incidents including spills and releases; lead and/or support completion of environmental incident investigations, root cause analysis and development of corrective actions.
+ Conduct routine compliance assessments, document action plans for any findings, and drive closure.
+ Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and environmental consultants.
+ Assist in the coordination and monitoring of Hazardous, Universal, and Residual waste handling and disposal.
+ Actively track performance and report on status of identified goals and objectives.
+ Coordinate and engage with SHE, Operations, Facilities, Engineering, and other personnel in the identification, development, and implementation of safety, health, and environmental goals which will positively impact and add value to the organization.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field and two (2) years of applicable experience;
+ Knowledgeable in recordkeeping and reporting for Clean Air Act (Title V), SARA Tier II, SARA 313, RCRA, SPCC, NPDES/Stormwater, Hazardous/Residual Waste;
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills;
+ Ability to negotiate and communicate with regulators, such as contacts at the EPA;
+ Computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.);
+ Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing data in multiple sources and formats;
+ Excellent organizational skills;
+ Ability to balance multiple projects and changing priorities;
+ Able to support on site in San Diego, CA.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Five (5) years of applicable experience;
+ Project management skills and experience;
+ Formal environmental compliance training including wastewater, solid waste, and air permitting;
+ Knowledgeable in California environmental regulations;
+ Knowledge of Groundwater Remediation and Discharge Monitoring Reports;
+ Knowledge and experience of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $75570 - $128480
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
