Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an Entry Level Natural Resource/Marine Scientist for our Chelmsford, MA or Manchester, NH Location.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Candidate will be required to perform field work potentially including sediment and water quality sampling (must be comfortable with boat-based sampling), infrastructure/ wetland mapping using GPS, compilation of field data, data analysis and assistance with preparation of work plans, health and safety plans, technical reports, and data presentation (i.e., GIS);
- Performs a variety of routine tasks to gain experience and familiarization with methods, practice and programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to work as part of a larger team a must.
- Prior GIS Platform experience and map making skills using GIS (preferred).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resource Management, Marine Biology, Ecology, Wetland Science, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field.
- Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous field biology/on-water sampling and survey experience
- Ideal candidate will receive 40 hour HAZWOPER training. Selected Candidate will also receive First Aid/CPR training.
- Candidate must be able to pass requirements of an OSHA screening physical (HAZWOPER).
- Candidate must have excellent technical writing skills and ability to effectively express his or herself orally among internal staff, clients, and sub-contractors.
- Office based tasks include conducting post-processing and reporting of field collected data, developing and managing geodatabases, and performing spatial analysis, aerial photographic interpretation, and GIS map production and visualization of field collected data using ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and associated ESRI production mapping tools.
- Candidate must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently.
- Candidate must exhibit a mature sense of professional responsibility and awareness of accepted standards of professional behavior.
- Candidate must be experienced with basic computer programs; MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with statistics, GPS, ArcGIS or AutoCAD a plus.

- Estimated office/field time: 60% / 40%. Must be willing to travel throughout the Northeastern US
