About the role
The Forterra Hardware Product Development team seeks a staff level engineering technician or technologist with a focus on design and support of Forterra products. This includes supporting engineering staff with fabrication and testing of prototype hardware, consulting on design decisions with regards to product manufacturability and serviceability, as well as design and fabrication of cable harnesses and testing equipment. Technologists may also be responsible for implementing existing technology on new platforms, performing routine maintenance, and repairing systems or equipment.

The Engineering Technologist role will require creativity and resourcefulness to address challenges with prototyping and optimizing against a constantly evolving delivery environment. You will have the opportunity to help shape our hardware products including sensor packages, various computing platforms, and autonomous vehicle integrations.
What you"ll do
- Be a key member of Forterra's Hardware Product Development team.
- Support fabrication of prototype hardware.
- Design and fabricate cable and harness subassemblies.
- Provide design feedback to engineering with regards to manufacturability and serviceability.
- Help vet and redline mechanical and electrical drawing packages.
- Develop manufacturing processes and assembly work instructions.
- Assist in transitioning prototype hardware into a production environment.
- Integrate hardware designs onto vehicle platforms.

What We"re Looking For
- 9+ years of experience in mechanical repair and fabrication (more senior technicians are also encouraged to apply, the position may be adjusted based on experience)
- 9+ years of experience in electrical trouble shooting and repair.
- Experience executing with command line Linux tools for computer and system configuration.
- Experience designing cables using Visio or Altium
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical assembly drawings and schematics.
US Salary Range
$75k-$110k Annually

The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra's overall compensation package.
