About the Job
Yaskawa is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for our Medium Voltage Drives business. The Engineering Technician will be responsible for manufacturing support of medium voltage drives products, drafting/detailing of new product designs, specification, design, conformance verification, technical documentation, and product enhancements to assist in achieving the growth and success of the corporate medium voltage drives business. This role will also take part in the development, design, and transition of standard and value added medium voltage drive products to the marketing, engineering, and manufacturing organizations. More specifically the Engineering Technician will:
- Design and modification to SolidWorks models of Yaskawa’s Medium Voltage Drives
- Investigate, approve, and implement changes to product, via ECO (engineering change order), to improve product design.
- Design/modify sheet metal and weldment drawings, according to Yaskawa America’s mechanical drawing standards.
- Create 2D parts drawings from 3D models to YAI mechanical drawing standards
- Generate/modify bills of materials in SAP MRP system.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues with mechanical designs on the factory floor.
- Perform incoming inspections of vendor manufactured parts
- Participate in Product Development System (PDS) review team. Work with team to continually monitor and improve the PDS as part of the company Quality Management System (QMS).
- Support vendors on questions related to custom designed parts drawings.
- Work with factory floor assemblers to troubleshoot parts and assembly issues
- Actively participate in design reviews.
- Check design and part drawings for others in the mechanical design group
Qualified candidates should have have a an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or 5+ years of equivalent experience and working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCad, and sheet metal and welded structure design. The absolute ideal candidate will have:
- Experience designing electrical enclosures per UL 50 standards is desirable.
- Industrial automation industry experience desired.
- Ability to perform mechanical stress and load calculations is desirable
- Experience with SolidWorks Simulation tools is desirable.
- MRP system experience such as SAP is desired but not required.
